FIREARM, AMMUNITION TAKEN INTO POLICE CUSTODY FOLLOWING SEARCH OPERATIONS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 15, 2018 (RSCNPF): A firearm was taken into Police custody on Wednesday, November 14, following an operation in the West Farm area conducted by a team comprised of members of the Tactical Unit and the Regional Security Service (RSS).

The firearm, one (1) 9 mm Smith and Wesson pistol, was found on an empty lot of land. Members of the Crime Scene Unit in the Forensic Department arrived and processed the scene and took the weapon into custody for further analysis. No ammunition was found with the weapon.

The same team also found four (4) 12-gauge shotgun rounds during an operation on Thursday, November 15, in an abandoned property in St. Johnston Village. The ammunition will also be processed by the members of the Forensic Department.

 Police investigations into both finds will continue. The total number of firearms taken into Police custody to date now stands at 35.
