SUGAR MAS 47 OPENING AND FEMALE CALYPSO FINALS!

 

Monday 26th November, 2018 (St. Kitts & Nevis) The St. Kitts Nevis National Carnival Committee (SKNNCC), under the leadership of the Hon. Shawn Richards, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture et al, opened the St. Kitts Nevis National Carnival on Friday, 23rd November, 2018, at The Circus, Basseterre. Carnival was officially opened by the Hon. Eugene Hamilton, Minister of Human Settlement et al, who deputized for the Hon. Shawn Richards in his absence. During the Opening, all Contestants and Participants in the Sugar Mas 47 Competitions were introduced and their sponsors’ announced.

Subsequent to the announcements and introductions, was the anticipated National Carnival Female Calypso Show. In 3rd Place was Charis D with 221 points, in 2nd place was Queen Kibie with 229 points, 1st place Brown Sugar with 243 points and the newly crowned Calypso Queen, Miss Independent, with 246 points.

Twelve (12) ladies competed in the Female Calypso Tent held on Sunday 18th, November at Krave Restaurant on New Street, with seven (7) making it to the Finals, along with the former Calypso Queen, Brown Sugar.

Guest Artiste, Calypso Queen Donelle Weekes out of Barbados, wowed the audience, performing a few of her songs including “Pray for De Children.”

The night climaxed with a live performance by Ras Kelly and D Rhythm Band.
