The Honourable Prime Minister and His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, are seen worshipping at the Antioch Baptist Church on Sunday, November 18th, 2018 during a service to commemorate Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris’ 25th anniversary as a Parliamentarian.ย  It was one of several church services held in honour of Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris who has madeย outstanding contributions to the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL COMMENDS PRIME MINISTER HARRIS ON HIS DISTINGUISHED SERVICE TO ST. KITTS AND NEVIS

His Excellency the Governor-General, Sir S.W. Tapley Seaton, has congratulated Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris on his 25thanniversary as a Parliamentarian, which was celebrated in November with an exciting range of activities organized by the people of Constituency #7 (Belle Vue to Ottleyโ€™s) whom he has served unwaveringly since 1993.

In a letter addressed to the Honourable Prime Minister, His Excellency the Governor-General thanked Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris for his โ€œkind invitationโ€ to worship with him during the month of November 2018.โ€œI also wish to take this opportunity to extend sincere congratulations to you on this milestone achievement,โ€ the Governor-General wrote, adding, โ€œI commend you on your distinguished service to your Constituency and the Nation and wish you many more years of contribution to the development of our Country and People.โ€After being elected to Parliament in 1993, Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris won his seat five more consecutive times in 1995, 2000, 2004, 2010 and during the last general elections on February 16th, 2015, which saw him go on to become St. Kitts and Nevisโ€™ third Prime Minister.

The next year, Prime Minister Harris received the prestigious Gusi Peace Prize, Asiaโ€™s equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize, for his Outstanding Statesmanship.

This year, the Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis was recognized for his Outstanding Leadership and Public Service and as one of the University of the West Indiesโ€™ 70 Outstanding Graduates during UWIโ€™s 70thย anniversary celebrations.

Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris has served as Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Housing (1995 to March 2000); Minister of Education, Labour and Social Security (March 2000 to August 2001); Minister of Foreign Affairs and Education (August 2001 to October 2004); Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs (October 2004 to August 2008); Minister of Finance, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs (August 2008 to January 2010), and Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade, Industry, Commerce, Consumer Affairs, Agriculture, Marine Resources, Cooperatives and Constituency Empowerment (February 2010 to January 2013).

Prime Minister Harris currently serves as Minister of Finance, Sustainable Development, National Security, People Empowerment and Constituency Empowerment.
