THURSDAY, DECEMBER 20, IS SECOND REDUCED VAT RATE DAY IN ST. KITTS AND NEVIS
Basseterre, St. Kitts, October 18, 2018 (SKNIS): The second Reduced VAT (Value Added Tax) Rate Day is on Thursday, December 20, 2018, as was agreed upon and confirmed by the Ministry of Finance in conjunction with the St. Kitts and Nevis Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The first Reduced VAT Rate Day was on December 14, the day that the government paid an additional month’s salary, commonly called “a double salary”.

Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris said that the decision by the Cabinet to continue to have Reduced VAT Rate Days is a part of the Government’s agenda of re-calibration of the economy in the context of renewed fiscal discipline.

Shortly after assuming power in the February 2015 General Elections, the Government of National Unity removed VAT from food, medicines and funeral expenses for 365 days of the year as one of its Manifesto promises to the people.
