Prime Minister Harris treats Police High Command and RSS forces to Christmas luncheon
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, December 26, 2018 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, on Christmas Day Tuesday December 25 treated members of the Police High Command, and the Regional Security System (RSS) forces to lunch at the Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) in Basseterre.
“It was my esteemed pleasure to be in the company of these hardworking men and women spreading Christmas cheer to them over a Christmas lunch,” said Prime Minister Harris. “They are a dedicated people who have put our country’s interests above their own. As we celebrate the birth of our Saviour, Jesus Christ, there was not a better way to show them my Government’s and my own appreciation for the work they are doing and their dedication.”
Prime Minister Harris observed that members of the local forces along with the visiting members of the Regional Security System (RSS), who have been in the country since October this year, have worked diligently to ensure that the country has maintained the peace everyone prays for.
“As we join our families and friends in celebrating Christmas, participating in Carnival activities and to celebrate the New Year, please let us also remember the families these dedicated people have left behind as they ensure our overall safety,” said the Minister of National Security. “Those families need the company of their loved ones but that is sometimes not possible as their loved ones are out on national duties.”
Prime Minister Harris also thanked members of the public for observing the Christmas activities in relative calm and appealed to them to ensure that the peace is maintained even after the festive season, as that is the only way the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis will realise the developmental and social goals it has set.
“As I said in my Christmas message to the Nation – may you be at one with your neighbours and extend a little kindness, compassion and charity this Christmas season and into the New Year,” observed the Honourable Prime Minister. “May God bless our security forces and their families as they continue to serve this our beloved Nation, and may He bless the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis and its people.”
Leading members of the Police High Command was Acting Commissioner of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Mr Hilroy Brandy. Present included Assistant Commissioner of Police with responsibility for Crime Directorate Mr Andre Mitchell, Acting ACP with responsibility for Operations Mr Adolph Adams, the new Director of the Forensic Department Mrs LaToya Lake-Marshall, and the Forces Chaplain the Rev Ericsson Cumberbatch.
After the luncheon, Prime Minister Harris visited the Joseph Nathaniel France General Hospital to enquire on the health and wellbeing of officers there.
