Premier of Nevis and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation, the Honourable Mark Brantley
“Our people need to get to a point where we grab opportunities whenever it arises in our country,” said the Honourable Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis, and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Aviation in the Federal Government, during a community consultation on Monday, February 18 in Nevis, where Members of Federal Cabinet attended to interact with nationals and addressed their concerns.
Minister Brantley assured all that when Cabinet meets the best interest of citizens and residents is always discussed.
“When we sit down as a Cabinet we are looking at the country and saying opportunities must be provided for every person and whenever they are, they must be willing to cease that opportunity. And that is my ultimate message to you, that ultimately, if Team Unity is to fulfil its purpose it must be that our people start to see themselves as having the capacity and the ability to take advantage of every single opportunity,” he said, adding that whatever St. Kitts and Nevis has to offer belongs to every one of us.
He noted that a paradigm shift is required amongst citizens and residents.
“If you are to build one country, we must change our mindset and see our country in the context of oneness, and that for me has been a very important, perhaps subtle, but nevertheless a very important shift in terms of the ethos of St. Kitts and Nevis,” said Premier Brantley. “If, as this Team Unity construct promised, and seeks to deliver on a new thinking for this country, I want our people to stop seeing themselves purely as I am Nevisian and Kittitian, stop seeing that St. Kitts has a development, Nevis must get one too, because often times we can complement each other.”
Minister Brantley reiterated that the opportunities are there and as Kittitians and Nevisians we must work together to ensure that they are capitalized on because there is progress happening in St. Kitts and Nevis for all to benefit.
