Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris spoke with Jason Davis of ZIZ Broadcasting Corporation at the Health and Human Resource Expo that is taking place in the margins of the Thirtieth Inter-Sessional Meeting of CARICOM Conference Heads at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort.  Scroll down and click to listen to the wide-ranging interview.

The Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, in welcoming his Colleague Heads of Government to the Federation, said, “’The first wealth is health,’ American philosopher Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote in 1860.  Nigh 160 years later, our Community is confronted with health concerns, such as an unacceptably high incidence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

“I feel both honoured and challenged, then, as the Head responsible for Health and Human Resource Development in CARICOM’s Quasi-Cabinet to hold the mantle at this particular time.

“I commend the Local Organising Committee, which in collaboration with the Ministry of Health has set up a Health and Human Resource Expo over the two-day period.  It is the first time that such an Expo has been organized in the margins of a Heads Meeting, so I congratulate both the LOC for proposing the novel idea and the Ministry of Health for ably executing this significant initiative.”
