Stepping outside of her comfort zone, is the quietly curious and spontaneous 21 year old Sandy Pointer, Ackila Hanley.
Ackila’s quiet personality emanates from her desire to observe. However, as she is guided by the philosophy “Those Who Fail To Learn From History Are Doomed To Repeat It” by Winston Churchill, she has surprisingly decided to become an active participant in her own research to develop a positive self image towards ultimately promoting the key requirements to strengthening and improving ones self image. Using her ownexperience struggling with self image and finally taking the initiative to acton her desire to grow and achieve more, Ackila decided to use this platform to encourage persons on how they too can go about “Building positive self image”.
During her tenure at the Charles E. Secondary School, Ackila had only been able to participate in dance as a means of expression and a way to achieve some level of positive personal growth. But, her shyness did not allow her to pursue dance further. At 21, she would have certainly realized that to achieve all she wishes she has to continue grabbing at opportunities that improve awareness and identity, develop her talents and potential, enhance the quality of her life and contribute to the realization of her dreams and aspirations.
Therefore, learning from history that growth can only occur outside of her comfort zone, Ackila has decided to take a bold step into pageantry as Ackila one day hopes to emulate the strength of her role model, her Mother, who she claims to be the strongest person she knows and has been a constant source of inspiration in her life.
When she is not chasing her dreams, Ackila enjoys watching documentaries, baking and listening to music.
