SEVERAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS BUDGETED FOR TO BE ROLLED OUT IN CONSTITUENCY EIGHT SHORTLY
Basseterre, St. Kitts, March 14, 2019 (SKNIS): Parliamentary Representative for Constituency Eight, the Honourable Eugene Hamilton, while speaking at the Government’s Community Consultation on March 12 at the Cayon Community Center said that there are significant allocations for community projects in Constituency Eight in the 2019 Budget.

“As we speak, the Budget for 2019 has captured a project at the Saint Mary’s Park where we intend to spend another EC$ 3.1 million dollars overtime, beginning this year to put in the bleachers,” said Minister Hamilton, who then outlined that this will allow persons to have bleachers to sit in for the upcoming sports days once the project is completed.

He added that there are lots being prepared for sale through the National Housing Corporation (NHC) in the Holland Ghaut, Cayon, so that persons who are still searching for land will have an opportunity to acquire land in that area to build houses.

Minister Hamilton also said that a campaign promise to provide a studio for young persons to have a creative space to produce music will soon be realized.
“I wanted to encourage the young men and women who believe that they have talent in recording music to be able to put their talent together and produce something that can be of financial benefit to them,” he said.

He added that it is important for young persons to know that the government stands behind them in the use of their creativity and said, “I want to remind the young people that if you have a talent, music or otherwise, there will be an opportunity to express yourself and produce whatever records you can and whatever comes to you will come as a result of the support of this government.”

The minister said that the Budget also has an EC$ 2.5 million-dollar provision for a project in Conaree to create changing rooms for males and females to avoid persons having to change on the play field.

“I know you need somewhere to change when you are playing your games and I know you want two separate units, one for female and one for males, so this will commence very shortly in Conaree,” he said.

Additionally, Minister Hamilton said that in St. Peter’s, the construction of a brand-new Health Center will soon be on the way.

“Those of you who are here from St. Peter’s, one of the things that is troubling is the condition of your health center,” he said. “You will see in the Budget an EC$ 2.5 million-dollar project to build a brand-new health center starting very soon.”
