Prime Minister and PLP Political Leader Harris: Patsy Allers is a popular venue

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, March 14, 2019 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — After a hugely successful private session for party delegates of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) third annual National Convention held on Wednesday evening at the St. Kitts Marriott, which saw the re-election of the party’s National Executive, focus now turns to the Patsy Allers Playground in West Basseterre where the convention’s public session will be held on Saturday March 16.

With a bumper crowd expected to attend the public session of the convention, which is being held under the theme ‘Improving our communities with PLP in Unity’, Prime Minister and National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party which is one of the three parties in the ruling Team Unity Administration visited the Patsy Allers Playground to inspect the progress being made in preparation for the Saturday’s public session.

“We are here doing a site visit as the party leadership and membership get organised for the final session of the Peoples Labour Party’s conference,” said Prime Minister Harris who was accompanied by the PLP’s Deputy National Political Leader and Team Unity Caretaker for St. Christopher Three, Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett, and advisor Dr Sharon Gopaul-McNicol.

Prime Minister Harris was updated on the work’s progress by Mr Christophe Greaux, PLP’s Deputy National Secretary; Mr Eugene Dias, Deputy Chairman of PLP’s Constituency Number Three Branch; and Mr William Phillip, PLP’s Founding Member. Last year Patsy Allers Playground was the venue of PLP’s second annual National Conference, which turned out to be a one of the most successful conventions ever held by a political party in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.

“This venue has been a popular one – we were here last year,” said Dr Harris. “We are going to be here this year again for another successful Peoples Labour Party conference. Of course this is in the constituency of Senator Akilah Byron-Nisbett who will be the candidate for Team Unity in St. Christopher Three (West Basseterre).”

According to the Honourable Prime Minister, the Peoples Labour Party was happy to return to Patsy Allers to send messages of inclusiveness, progress, and fair share for all. He noted that in the programmes and policies of the government, the party has been all embracing and all inclusive in its approach which is consistent with the party’s commitment to building a strong unity fabric that is inclusive of all.

Reflecting on the outstanding private session of the National Convention held on Wednesday evening March 13, Prime Minister Harris said: “I myself, despite being involved at the level of politics for over 20-odd years, had been pleasantly surprised by the sheer energy, the involvement and the readiness of the membership to participate in the democratic life of the party, and beyond that to contribute to the further strengthening of the government by defending it by promoting its policies and by welcoming others into the fold of the family.”

Expected to attend and participate in the public session of the National Convention will be dignitaries and well-wishers of the Peoples Labour Party and some friends the party has had over the years, including Dr Sharon Gopaul-McNicol who has been with the party from its inception, and others who have become the party’s friends and family.

“We have fraternal greetings to come for example from our representative in New York in North America, from Florida and elsewhere,” said Prime Minister Harris. “We just want to say how pleased the executive is, both the outgoing and the newly elected executive at the kind of goodwill and support that has been demonstrated for this party which we love so dearly and which has been a critical part of the governing coalition within St. Kitts and Nevis.”
