PM Harris lauds police recruits from the region who have offered to serve in the Federation
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, April 23, 2019 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — When Prime Minister and Minister of National Security, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, hosted a luncheon on Easter Monday April 22 for the 33 recruits of the 43rd training course of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force he observed that the majority of them are from outside of St. Kitts and Nevis, and he requested them to feel very special among Kittitians and Nevisians.
“First I want to thank Commissioner Brandy for suggesting that we have a special event for you our recruits,” said Prime Minister Harris. “In thinking about it he recalled that many of you, in fact most of you come from outside of St. Kitts and Nevis, and for many of you it perhaps was your first opportunity to travel to St. Kitts and in some cases to travel beyond your own shores.”
The 33 recruits who will serve in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force after graduation expected to be in July, are drawn from Jamaica, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and home country the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis.
“We are also reminded that this will be your first job and so I told Brandy it was an excellent idea and I would want for you to feel very special among us here in St. Kitts and Nevis and whatever we can do to add a difference and something special to your Easter experience we should,” said the Honourable Prime Minister.
The luncheon was held at the prestigious Blu Seafood Restaurant on the beach at the St. Kitts Marriott Resort. In attendance were the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of National Security Mr Osmond Petty, Acting Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy, Assistant Commissioner of Police Andre Mitchell, and Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police McCarta Browne.
Also present were Director of the Forensics Department, Mrs Latoya Lake-Marshall, and Commandant of the Police Training School, Inspector Eldrin Dickenson.
“We have brought you to our largest hotel in St. Kitts,” Prime Minister Harris told the police recruits. “We have brought you here because we want you to appreciate you are special – you are important to us and we appreciate your potential to contribute to the continuing peace and prosperity of St. Kitts and Nevis. I say thank you for committing to serve.”
According to a breakdown provided by the Commandant of the Police Training School, Inspector Eldrin Dickenson, Police Training Course 43 has 19 recruits from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, seven recruits from St. Kitts and Nevis, five recruits from Grenada, while Jamaica and Dominica have one recruit each.
