During a brief but significant handing over ceremony on Thursday, Ms. Hodge and her family, particularly her daughter Valencia Hodge, expressed their profound and deepest appreciation to Prime Minister Harris and his Team Unity Government, as well as the members of the corporate community that donated the furniture and appliances for the new house.
In an emotional vote of thanks, Ms. Valencia Hodge stated, “I know my mother is more than grateful as she will be in her very own comfort zone. I know she will be satisfied with her own space [as] she has been looking for this for a very long time. As a mother of 10 children all alive and well, with two young ones left to raise, this gift is burden lifter and we…appreciate it very much and we say a heartfelt ‘thank you’!”
Ms. Hodge singled out the involvement of Prime Minister Harris, the Area Representative, who she said went above and beyond the call of duty to improve the living conditions of her mother.
“We are grateful to our prime minister and to thank him for his kindness, his interest and his hospitality and his continued support,” she said.
Ms. Hodge also made special mention of Mrs. Elreter Simpson-Browne who opened her home to Ms. Euta Hodge and her children after their home was rendered uninhabitable by the hurricane.
Local companies S.L. Horsford & Co. Ltd. and TDC donated the furniture and appliances for Ms. Hodge’s new house. Horsford donated the furniture which include the living room set, dining room set, and bedroom set for 1 bedroom, while TDC donated the refrigerator and stove.
Ms. Valencia Hodge also expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of her mother to both companies for this act of kindness and civic responsibility.
