The minister stated that the goal is to develop them as drivers of tourism during the traditional low season.
For the successful St. Kitts Music Festival, there will be, for the first time, exclusive sponsorship by Hype Magazine, which is a leading urban lifestyle publication, said Minister Grant.
“The Hype will provide pre-live and post event coverage of the event including banner ads, websites inclusions and much more,” said the tourism minister. “This will increase awareness and help grow demand for even in the key U.S. market place.”
As for the 5th annual St. Kitts and Nevis Restaurant Week, for the first time, an internationally known chef will be brought to the Federation.
“That chef is Italian restaurateur, chef and cookbook author Pino Luongo. He trained and he mentored Anthony Bourdain. He owns two restaurants in New York, Morso and the new Coco Pazzo, which opened recently to much acclaim,” said Minister Grant.
Chef Pino will cook alongside the Federation’s chefs at events at the Marshalls, Park Hyatt and Sprat Net, said the minister. He will also train the chefs. In addition, he will provide an internship in one of his restaurants for the top graduating student in Hospitality and Culinary Management from the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College (CFBC).
“This is an incredible opportunity for one of our youth preparing to enter that field,” said Minister Grant.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Restaurant week celebrates local cuisine and offers visitors and nationals an opportunity to experience special menus at discounted prices across a variety of restaurants.
The 5th annual event will take place from July 18 to 28, 2019.
