PLP Constituency Number Three Branch to pamper fathers ahead of Father’s Day

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, June 13, 2019 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Father’s Day this year will be observed on Sunday June 16 and in preparation for the event fathers in St. Christopher Three (West Basseterre) will receive special treatment on Saturday June 15 at the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Constituency Office, CMR Building in Lime Kiln Commercial Development.

“We are going to be pampering our dads in Number Three on Saturday the 15th of June,” announced Team Unity’s Caretaker for St. Christopher Three, Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett on Wednesday June 12 when she appeared as a guest on the People’s Voice Programme on Sugar City 90.3 FM hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Michael Powell.

“So come on out to the constituency office on Saturday from 2-6 pm,” said the Hon Byron Nisbett. “Come and get a nice welcome with a glass of wine or a beer of your choice, get a nice massage, get a pedicure, get a manicure – get yourself ready for the week ahead, get yourself ready for the Father’s Day the next day.”

Making a plea to fathers, she said: “Just allow us to be able to take care of you because at the end of the day Dads, you too need a break and we understand that. We are going to show you that we do care about the fathers as well. We are really going all out for our fathers this year.”

Host Ambassador Powell asked if he could come for the event even though he is not from Constituency Number Three. In her reply, she said that the event was designed for Number three but they were open to accept persons who would turn up because it was all about fathers.

“We have to make sure that we take care of our fathers,” said the Hon Byron-Nisbett. “There are really some good fathers out there who not only take care of their own children by birth – I have seen some men who are out there mentoring a lot of the young men within their communities or in their churches or in the different groups and they need to understand that the work that they do is appreciated.”

Leading the event will be one of the Peoples Labour Party members, Ms Angela ‘Tallet’ Lewis who will be assisted by Mrs Jenifer Howell. Not believing what he was hearing, Host Ambassador Powell asked how much it will cost a father who comes for the special event.

“It is absolutely free,” said the Hon Byron-Nisbett. “We are taking care of our fathers – we are celebrating dads. That is what it is about this year. You know, enough times you hear the fathers complaining, but this time you won’t be able to complain. We are taking care of fathers for Father’s day this year.”

Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett, who is the Deputy National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party, one of the three parties in the Team Unity Administration noted that while the event on Saturday will be held under the PLP banner, it is a collaborative effort between the PLP and the People’s Action Movement (PAM) in Number Three. She observed that even though PLP runs the candidate in Number Three, they know the importance of their partners in People’s Action Movement.

“So it is a team effort between both of the parties, and we just want to make sure people understand that – that in Number Three, it is about everybody,” said the Hon Byron-Nisbett. “We try to include everybody and we are always open to whoever wants as long as you live in Constituency Number Three – we are here for you.”
