GOVERNMENT OF ST. KITTS-NEVIS CONTINUES TO PROMOTE ITS GOOD GOVERNANCE AGENDA
Basseterre, St. Kitts, July 02, 2019 (SKNIS):ย The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris continues to promote its good governance and accountability agenda as it is necessaryย for the sustainable growth and transformational development of the federation,

During the prime ministerโ€™s press conference on July 02, Dr. Harris made mention of a few elements that form part of the good governance initiative including the frequent Sitting of Parliament, radio programmes and town hall meetings to name a few.


โ€œOur weekly โ€œWorking for You Programme hosted by Director-General of Government Information Service, Lesroy Williams is now part of the national staple of information and accountability by my Government,โ€ said Prime Minister Harris. โ€œTown Hall forums which afford us [Government Ministers] the opportunity to regularly present to citizens and residents an account of our stewardship over the nationโ€™s affairs, while giving the public the opportunity to question us on matters of importance to them.โ€

Prime Minister Harris noted that the call-in programmes are designed to allow callers to speak directly with government ministers. He used the occasion to commend the Honourable Ian Patches Liburd and the Honourable Mark Brantley, Premier of Nevis, for their โ€œown independent radio programmes. Minister Liburd hosts Straight Talk on WinnFm on Mondays and Thursdays from 8 to 10 p.m., while Premier Brantley hosts โ€˜On the Markโ€™ on Von Radio from 8-10 p.m. on Wednesdays.

โ€œThere is no dearth then, no scarcity of information regarding the affairs of the country,โ€ said the prime minister. โ€œGood governance is working in St. Kitts and Nevis and more on good governance will come at our next Sitting of Parliament when a number of pieces of legislation on that subject matter will be debated.โ€
