PRIME MINISTER HARRIS ADDRESSES 5TH POLICE PASSING OUT CEREMONY UNDER TEAM UNITY
BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, August 15, 2019 (Press Unit in the Office of the Prime Minister) – “Numbers speak better than words.” That is how Prime Minister Dr. the Honourable Timothy Harris summed up the superb performance of the Team Unity administration in providing training to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

Speaking at the Passing out Ceremony of 31 graduates of Course #43 on Wednesday, August 14, Prime Minister Harris said that over the last four-plus years Team Unity inducted 167 new police officers in the Police Force through consistent training over five courses since 2015: Courses #39, #40, #41, #42 and #43.

In contrast, the bygone Denzil Douglas-led administration had two batches of trainees in Courses #37 and #38 producing a mere 48 additional constables over the period 2010-2014.

The Dr. Harris-led Team Unity Government has given consistent high levels of support to the police, which include providing the highest ever budgetary allocations $80.4 million in 2019. In 2014, the Douglas administration provided $15 million to National Security.

The group of recruits who graduated on Wednesday consisted of nationals from St. Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Dominica and Grenada.
