Ministry of Utilities to Shed Light on Energy Efficiency During a Month of Activities this November

MINISTRY OF UTILITIES TO SHED LIGHT ON ENERGY EFFICIENCY 

DURING A MONTH OF ACTIVITIES THIS NOVEMBER 

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 1, 2019 (SKNIS): The Ministry of Utilities will host a month of activities from November 1 to 30 to commemorate the positive developments in the local energy sector. The month of activities forms part of CARICOM Energy Month, which is being observed in November under the theme Empowering People, Building Resilience.

Minister with responsibility for Utilities, the Honourable Ian Patches Liburd highlighted this during his recent speech to mark the start of CARICOM Energy Month.

The Honourable Minister announced that a number of activities will be held over this period, including an appearance on the radio programme Working For You this coming Wednesday, November 6th by officials of the Energy Unit. 

Minister Liburd went on to state that these activities include a motorcade on Saturday, November 23, which will see LED street lamps “distributed to various communities.” There will also be an Energy Fair on Bank Street on Friday, November 29. 

The Minister of Utilities laid out his Ministry’s vision, saying, “Our ministry intends to take the concept of being resilient beyond that of the energy industry into the arena of personal health and fitness.”

Minister Liburd added: “We have, therefore, organized a yoga session at the National Heroes Park at 5:00pm on Thursday, November 7 and teamed up with SKN MOVES for a ‘socacise’ event at the Ministry’s parking lot at 5:00pm on Friday, November 15.”
