PLP Constituency Seven Women Empowerment Group to hold fundraising breakfast
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, January 22, 2020 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — The Peoples Labour Party (PLP) Constituency Number Seven Women Empowerment Group will on Saturday January 25 hold a fundraising breakfast at Bourryeau Gate starting from 7:00 am.
“This is our first fundraising event for the year 2020,” said the group’s president Mrs Sonia Henry. “Based on our past experiences, where the public overwhelmingly supported us when we raised funds for worthy causes in the constituency, we are going an extra mile to make this a special fundraising event.”
According to the president of the PLP Constituency Number Seven Women Empowerment Group, the Saturday event will be more than a breakfast, and they are calling it ‘breakfast to brunch’.
In addition to the traditional breakfast of saltfish, pancakes, Johnny cakes, bacon, eggs, yam, breadfruit and mackerel, they will also be offering goat water, cook-up and bull foot. There will also be juices and a variety of bush tea.
“It is an event that stretches beyond the 10:00 o’clock, going up to lunch,” observed Mrs Henry. “That is why we are calling it ‘breakfast to brunch’. Preparations would be made for persons who want to have a sit-down meal, which means that we will have a big white tent. It will be decorated and prepared with tables and chairs so persons can sit down and have their breakfast if they want to or their brunch as the case may be.”
Tickets are selling at twenty dollars each, and can be obtained from members of the Peoples Labour Party Constituency Number Seven Women Empowerment Group. Any one failing to obtain a ticket beforehand could just turn up at Bourryeau Gate, on the Island Main Road junction to get into Molineux, and will buy their breakfast for the same amount.
This is the first in a series of fundraising events. Another breakfast will be held shortly at a different location in the constituency at a date to be announced, and the planned events will culminate with a takeaway dinner. According to Mrs Henry, the ladies are all fired up to ensure that the event is successful, and have notified the National Executive of the Peoples Labour Party for support.
“We as the constituency women’s group have received all-round support and we would wish to specifically thank, first, our Area Parliamentary Representative and PLP National Political Leader, Prime Minister the Hon Dr Timothy Harris, who patronises all our fundraising activities,” said Mrs Sonia Henry.
Mrs Henry, who is also a PLP Women’s Arm Representative, added: “We also want to thank the PLP National Chairman Mr Warren Thompson, PLP National Secretary Ms Myrtilla Williams, PLP Constituency Number Seven Branch Executive Chairman Mr Lenworth Harris, and a member of the women’s group Mrs Elreter Simpson-Browne for their invaluable contribution and support.”
