PM Harris: Senator Byron-Nisbett has delivered for the people of West Basseterre

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, March 2, 2020 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Team Unity’s Caretaker for St. Christopher Three, Senator the Hon Akilah Byron-Nisbett, has delivered for the people of West Basseterre, and Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris is inviting the general public to tomorrow’s (Tuesday March 3) Town Hall meeting at the St. Johnson’s Community Centre in West Basseterre to hear the Senator put forward her agenda for the development of the constituency.

“I want to say to the people of West Basseterre, we have good plans to take West Basseterre forward and upward,” said Prime Minister Harris on Thursday February 27 at the end of Vision 2020 and Beyond Walkthrough in West Basseterre. “We have good plans to share the prosperity agenda in West Basseterre…. Akilah comes well seized and well knowledgeable about this community from which her parents hail and live – well rooted in West Basseterre.”

Prime Minister Harris, who is also the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP) one of the three parties in the Team Unity Administration, observed that Senator Akilah Byron-Nisbett lives in the constituency and has a clear and distinct vision for the people of West Basseterre, having worked with the residents to successfully bring the much needed development.

“In that regard, next Tuesday (March 3) the people of West Basseterre, and indeed the people of St. Kitts and Nevis, will have an opportunity to see Akilah Byron-Nisbett put forward the agenda for the development of West Basseterre,” said the Honourable Prime Minister. “Even before she has become officially the elected representative for the people of West Basseterre, her works are there to be seen.”

Akilah Byron-Nisbett, Dr Harris added, is a woman of action who “makes no excuse for inefficiency and indeed if she could chalk up such an excellent performance even while she is not an elected member, you could well imagine how much more good work she will deliver.”

Senator Akilah Byron-Nisbett, who is the Deputy National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party, and Chairperson of the PLP Constituency Number Three Executive Branch, said that Team Unity is ready for 2020, and ready to ensure safer streets are maintained, and to create more job opportunities not just in West Basseterre, but for the entire country.

According to the Hon Byron-Nisbett, the walkthrough proved that Team Unity is the people’s choice. She added: “In Number Three, Team Unity is definitely the people’s choice and that was proven this evening in our walkthrough.”

The successful walkthrough, which started at the St. Johnson’s Community Centre, had the participation of the Deputy Prime Minister the Hon Shawn Richards, Senior Minister the Hon Vance Amory, Minister of Agriculture the Hon Eugene Hamilton, Minister of State for Health the Hon Wendy Phipps, and People’s Action Movement’s (PAM) Assistant Secretary General Mr Azard Gumbs, and members of the PLP Constituency Number Three Executive Branch among others. Giving support were Senator Byron-Nisbett’s parents, Mr Terence and Mrs Althea Byron.

“I am looking forward for persons to come out on Tuesday (March 3) when we have the town hall meeting right here in St. Johnson Community Centre in Constituency Number Three,” advised Senator Byron-Nisbett. “We expect that to be a big turnout as persons are ready to hear what Team Unity has to offer in Constituency Number Three for 2020, and also I will share some of my plans and vision for this constituency.”
