PERSONS FOUND BREACHING THE CURFEW SENT BACK TO THEIR RESIDENCES

Basseterre, St. Kitts, April 28, 2020 (RSCNPF):
Close to 50 persons who were found on the street before the curfew ended were sent back to their residences by the Police disclosed Superintendent Cromwell Henry.

“This morning at about 5:00 a.m., law enforcement conducted a vehicle check point (VCP) at various points around Basseterre. A total of 75 vehicles were stopped, 20 of them were found to be in violation of the curfew and the…drivers and occupants were asked to return to their residences. The other 55 vehicles were persons who were exempted,” Superintendent Henry said.

He was, at the time, making his presentation at the National Emergency Operation Center’s COVID-19 Daily Briefing on Monday, April 27.

“Additionally, 10 persons were found walking on the street on their way to line up at business places and they too were also asked to return to their residences. A further 15 persons were found exercising on the streets before 6:00 a.m. Likewise, they were asked to return to their residences.”

The Police continues to make appeals to persons to respect the curfew and to stay at their places of residence during the specified hours. On partial curfew days, the curfew begins at 7:01 p.m. and runs until 5:59 a.m. the following day.

Thursday, April 30 and Friday, May 01 are the other days on which limited movement is allowed this week. A partial curfew takes effect on those days. On Wednesday, April 29, a 24-hour curfew will be in place.
