Prime Minister Harris endorses Lindsay Grant – best tourism minister in the region

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, May 29, 2020 (PLP PR Media Inc.) — Minister of Tourism, International Trade, Industry and Commerce, the Hon Lindsay Grant, who is defending the St. Christopher Four seat under the Team Unity banner in the June 5 General Election, was officially launched at a colourful Team Unity virtual public meeting on Thursday evening May 28.

“I must say thank you to the people of Number Four for your strong, loving, and determined support for the Hon Lindsay Grant,” said Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris to the people of Constituency Number Four as he endorsed the Hon Lindsay Grant of the People’s Action Movement (PAM).

Dr Harris added: “We appreciate your sincerity, and we appreciate that for another time you will use the opportunity to send back to the Cabinet the best performing minister of tourism in the region, so that Lindsay and his team can continue our plan to make St. Kitts and Nevis the most visited destination in the world, and certainly we can with your help.”

He told the people of Number Four that if they can band together and learn from one another, they will march towards a stronger and safer future for all the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.

The meeting was chaired by Team Unity’s candidate for St. Christopher Three, Senator Akilah Byron-Nisbett of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP). Also endorsing the Hon Grant were Ambassador Jonel Powell of PAM and Team Unity’s candidate for St. Christopher Two, and Deputy Prime Minister the Hon Shawn Richards of PAM, who will be defending the St. Christopher Five seat.

“When you hear about the records we have broken in tourism, bringing in a record number of tourists – 1.2 million tourists – doubling up the performance left after twenty years of Labour, you know that the future will be brighter, stronger and safer with a Team Unity Administration of which Lindsay Grant must be a part,” said the Prime Minister.

He added: “You have in Lindsay Grant a dynamic fighter, someone who has been delivering. He has drawn on your energy and over the last couple of days as we count down to the elections I have been impressed by his hard work on the campaign trail. He is not taking any chance with this one. Every day he is out there on the campaign trail, and he tells me he is enjoying it, and that is why he keeps going back and going back.”

Telling the people of Number Four that the Hon Lindsay Grant was the clear choice, he reminded them that there is no future in going back, because they are about the future, and as they are being persuaded to go back to a past time event by people hungering over past glory, the Honourable Prime Minister advised them that the past is already gone.

“Only the future St. Kitts and Nevis can consecrate,” noted Dr Harris. “Only the future and the future does not involve going back. The people of Number Four, of course, will stick with the future and Lindsay Grant represents the better future for the people of Number Four. A dynamic man, an all-rounder, a successful businessman and lawyer, a successful sports leader, and you are sure that Lindsay Grant based on performance will represent you well come the next term of the Team Unity Administration.”

He thanked the people of Number Four for their strong support for Lindsay Grant. He said the same energy is also coming from the other ten constituencies for the Team Unity candidates, and noted that the people of the country know a good team when they see it, and they know Team Unity for the last five years has been an exceptional excellent team.

“Based on our performance you could confidently say that Team Unity deserves your vote and that is the consensus out there,” said the Honourable Prime Minister. “I will encourage you on the 5th of June to do the right thing. Look to the future. Look to the future with hope. Look to the future with the best set of managers because when you compare our performance to that was, this is no comparison.”
