Defending champion club suffers second defeat in first round of #7 Domino League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, July 31, 2020 (MMS-SKN) — At the end of the second segment of play in the first round of the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League on Thursday evening July 30, defending champion Parsons Domino Club found themselves in unfamiliar territories.

The club, which made history in 2018 by becoming the first team from outside Constituency Number Seven to win the Constituency Number Seven Domino League, suffered a second straight loss albeit narrowly in as many tries. Parsons Domino Club is from Parsons Ground in Constituency Number Six.

In a hotly contested game played at the Tabernacle Police Station, former Champion team Unity Patriots Domino Club scrapped through with a narrow 13-12 win over Parsons Domino Club to maintain an unbeaten record having won their game in the first segment of play on Tuesday July 28.

Three other clubs have also maintained an unbeaten record in the two segments of the league’s first round. Phillips Domino Club beat Molineux Domino Club 13-5 in a game played at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux; Christchurch Domino Club beat Sylvers Domino Club 13-11 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project; and Mansion Domino Club beat Giants Domino Club 14-7 at the Tabernacle Police Station.

Former champion team, Lodge Domino Club found their winning form after having lost on the opening night of the league by beating Unstoppable 13-11 at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.

In other results on Thursday evening, Saddlers Domino Club beat Guinness Domino Club 13-4 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project, and Tabernacle Domino Club beat Small Corner Bar Domino Club 13-6 at the neighbouring Cuban Bar in Lodge Project.

Apart from Parsons, the other teams that have lost two consecutive games since the league opened on Tuesday July 28 are Sylvers Domino Club, Molineux Domino Club, and Giants Domino Club.

Play continues on Sunday August 1 with the third segment of play in the first round of the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League taking place at the three venues, Tabernacle Community Centre, Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux, and the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project. All games will be starting at 4:00 pm.
