Phillips surge ahead as Tabernacle are dramatically restricted in #7 Domino League

BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, August 21, 2020 (MMS-SKN) — When the tenth segment of play in the first round of the 25th edition of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League opened on Thursday evening August 20, Phillips Domino Club and Tabernacle Domino Club stood side by side in terms of the number of games each had won.

Each had won eight and lost one but at the end of play when all results were in, Phillips were ahead of their compatriots having won their game against Mansion Domino Club who they beat 13-4 in a game played at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux.

Tabernacle on the other hand, playing in a neck-to-neck game against Saddlers Domino Club at the Tabernacle Police Station suffered a dramatic defeat to the team from Constituency Number Six. The two teams were tied at 12-12 and the game could have gone either way, but Saddlers dug deep into their reserves and in the last game they amassed 100 points before Tabernacle could attain a single point, earning them a bonus point and a 14-12 win. 

Defending champions Parsons Domino Club regained their winning form and ended up stopping Unstoppable 13-10 in their game played at the Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux. 

Former champions Unity Patriots Domino Club, and Lodge Domino Club also chalked up wins. Unity Patriots beat Giants Domino Club 13-7 in a game played at Cuban Bar in Lodge Project, while at the neighbouring Lodge Community Centre, Lodge Domino Club beat Small Corner Bar 13-6. Lodge were leading 12-1 but slackened and allowed Small Corner Bar to win five consecutive games before they pulled up their socks and slammed in the winner.

In other games on Thursday evening, Sylvers Domino Club won their second game by beating Molineux Domino Club 13-8 at the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project, and at the Tabernacle Police Station, Christchurch Domino Club beat Guinness Domino Club 13-6.

Points standing at the end of the tenth segment in the first round of Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League: Phillips, 51 points; Tabernacle, 46 points; Unity Patriots 46 points; Lodge, 39 points; Saddlers, 39 points; Christchurch, 39 points; Unstoppable, 33 points; Parsons, 31 points; Mansion, 30 point; Small Corner Bar, 21 points; Sylvers, 14 points; Guinness, 13 points; Molineux, 12 points; Giants, 6 points.

Constituency Number Seven Dr the Hon Timothy Harris Domino League which is the longest running such league in the Federation, is sponsored by Prime Minister and Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris.

Eleventh segment of play in the first round of the 25thedition of the league will take place on Sunday August 23 at three venues, with all the games starting at 4:00 pm.

Tabernacle Police Station will host Saddlers vs. Mansion, and Christchurch vs. Tabernacle games; Edgar Gilbert Sporting Complex pavilion in Molineux will host Sylvers vs. Unstoppable, and Small Corner Bar vs. Molineux games; while the Lodge Community Centre in Lodge Project will host Parsons vs. Giants, Unity Patriots vs. Phillips, and Lodge vs. Guinness games.
