One News SVG understands that the National Emergency Management Organization NEMO is expected to release a statement soon relating to activities at the La Soufriere Volcano.
Persons are asked not to go near the Volcano at this time.
In a statement posted today, the Seismic Research Center of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine that monitors the volcano, said:
“The UWI-SRC has received reports of activity in St Vincent that may be related to La Soufriere volcano. We are currently monitoring the situation in collaboration with local authorities and an update will be provided shortly. The public is advised to not visit the volcano until a further update is provided. The UWI-SRC and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) are the official sources of information on earthquake and volcanic activity in St Vincent & the Grenadines”.
The public is being asked not to panic and to wait for further updates from the relevant authorities for reliance.
