Mr Lover Lover appears in the official commercial for Cheetos’ Crunch Pop Mix cheese snack.
The short, pre-released ahead of the Super Bowl LV on Sunday, February 7, will see Mr Boombastic and friends remixing his timeless hit It Wasn’t Me.
Two-pronged celebrations are in order for the Grammy Award winner, as it’s been 20 years since the popular track was released (November 2000).
Making cameos alongside Orville ‘Shaggy’ Burrell are Hollywood it-couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis.
The minute-long video is slowly making its rounds in the social sphere and likely to gain more traction once aired internationally during the coveted Super Bowl ad spot on Sunday.
An Instagram post, shared on Cheetos’ official IG page, had the caption:
Mila and Ashton? Shaggy?? Cheetos Crunch Pop Mix???? ya gotta watch to see what’s going down! 🔥 #ItWasntMe #SBLV
While Shaggy’s post and caption included a bit of a history lesson, it read:
It’s been 21 years since ‘It Wasn’t Me’ came out, and it’s still the perfect response to getting caught…@Cheetos #ItWasntMe #SBLV #Ad
Following Super Bowl Sunday, Cheetos will be launching a TikTok challenge for fans to create their own version of the Super Bowl commercial.
TikTok users are encouraged to sing ‘It Wasn’t Me’ in response to a handful of up-and-coming creators on the platform.
The campaign highlights the brand’s mission to inspire and encourage fans to express their creativity with a bit of a mischievous twist.
And from the looks and influence of several of the popular Tik Tok challenges, the Cheetos-infused versions are sure to be a hit.
