One-on-one consultations will feature after PM’s Monthly Health Walk says PM Harris
BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, April 5, 2021 (MMS-SKN) — At the end of the latest edition of Prime Minister’s Monthly Health Walk which was held on Saturday April 3, an impromptu one-on-one consultations session with Prime Minister Dr the Hon Timothy Harris was held at the Lodge-Ottley’s Community Centre.
“I want to thank Dr Dail Crawford because what turned out here was an extended impromptu one-on-one consultation where persons had an opportunity, in the comfortable environment of this new community centre, to come and to have their personal issues addressed in a comfortable environment,” said Dr Harris who is also the National Political Leader of the Peoples Labour Party (PLP), the fastest growing party in the Caribbean.
The session turned out to be highly successful with persons queuing to wait for their opportunity to have a face to face interaction with the Honourable Prime Minister in the comfort of the new community centre that at the end of it he stated: “It is a feature that I intend to add to each health walk.”
Prime Minister Harris, who is also the Area Parliamentary Representative for St. Christopher Seven (from Bellevue to Ottley’s), has said that the one-on-one sessions are useful because they help him to deliver more effective service to the constituents, and citizens and residents from outside the constituency when they come and give their particular issues and concerns.
“Today Dr Dail Crawford facilitated this activity and managed the process of persons coming in and out, so I want to commend him for taking the time,” stated Prime Minister Harris. “It was impromptu for him as well because it wasn’t something that we had advertised. As people started coming I thought it would have been one or three, but we had several persons who have come today and we want to commend them.”
Persons who got the opportunity to see him came from as far as Bird Rock, New Road, Sandy Point, Newton Ground, St. Paul’s, and Tabernacle and all with their various needs. Dr Harris observed that the session provided another opportunity for an engagement and he thanked all those who took time to be part of the one-on-one session.
According to the Honourable Prime Minister, the session made a big difference compared to times that he would have in the past met persons under a tent on the hardcourts at the end of a Prime Minister’s Monthly Health Walk. On Saturday April 3 he attended to individual needs of persons in an office space provided within the community centre which he said one can borrow for such period of time and engage persons who come with concerns in a more helpful way.
“The one-on-one was a very interesting one because we had people from different areas of St. Kitts coming,” noted Dr Dail Crawford. “Different nationalities were here. We had Haitians, we had Spanish, we had Guyanese – we had people from different places and so they were able to address some of the concerns that they would have had from a long time ago. They took the opportunity to see the Prime Minister so that he can try to alleviate of some of the issues that they have been facing for some time now.”
Dr Crawford, while thanking Prime Minister Harris for offering to be holding the one-on-one sessions after the Prime Minister’s Monthly Health Walk, observed that Prime Minister Harris’ good work of seeing and listening to people will help the citizens, and residents with their different issues and problems that they are facing.
