Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Dr Ralph Gonsalves has issued an evacuation order.
In a news conference a short while ago, Gonsalves says the evacuation order is for all premises in the areas designated as Red Zone on the Northeast and North West of St Vincent and the evacuation of the area itself.
The order also includes the exclusion of persons, vessels or vehicles from such premises and areas, save and except for the purpose of effecting the said evacuation.
The prime minister says the decision was taken based on communication from volcanologist Professor Richard Robertson, who says the matters have deteriorated at La Soufriere volcano.
