Good day parents and guardians.

In light of the present covid-19 situation that resulted in the unforeseen temporary closure of our school, I greet you first to tell you that I trust that everything is well with you and your family.

The students of forms 1-4 at the Verchilds High School were expected to sit the promotion exams starting Friday 4th June, 2021. Additionally, the form 5 students were expected to commence writing their CXC-CSEC exams on June 14, 2021. However, these dates have been abandoned. As it relates to the students of forms 1-4, I know that many of you are concerned about the instructional time while the students are at home. However, I must emphasize that the instructional period had ended as the students were doing revision activities to prepare for the exams. Essentially then, our students have not been disadvantaged or denied of their lessons. While our teachers get ready to engage our students virtually in the upcoming week, I ask that you have your children revise the contents for each subject while they are at home as there are some known challenges for some students relative to online learning. Furthermore , a subsequent statement regarding the exams will be made.

In light of the CXC- CSEC examinations, parents and students must note that the exams have been deferred for 2 weeks. As such, the exams will start on June 28, 2021 and will take the original formats where all of the papers and components will be administered and executed respectively. At the Verchilds High School, we worked tirelessly to ensure that the SBA scores for all of our students were at a minimum of 85% and we are thankful for the support that you have provided. Likewise, as the principal, I owe an immense amount of gratitude to the hardworking staff at the Verchilds High School who continue to sacrifice their time during and beyond the school’s schedule.

Continue to keep safe and rest assured that the administration at our beloved institution is working to navigate this wave as best as possible.

Further correspondence awaits you.
