Below are the major points from the Prime Minister’s address tonight:

MAJOR POINTS FROM THE PRIME MINISTER’S ADDRESS TODAY (JUNE 11TH 2021)


1) There were 11 positive cases on Wednesday (June 9th) and 25 positive cases on Thursday (June 10th), bringing the total number of cases to 155.

2) 61 persons have fully recovered, 94 cases are still active, 4 persons have been hospitalized and 1 person is very ill.

3) From tomorrow, Saturday (June 12th), to Saturday (June 26th, 2021), there would be a lock-down/curfew from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. daily, for the next 14 days (2 weeks).

4) 65% of the target population have received their first shot and 29% of the target population have been fully vaccinated.

5) All essential businesses and offices may continue their business operations by allowing their employees to WORK FROM HOME.

6) Where a business cannot work from home, the business shall seize its operations for the next two weeks.

7) All persons employed within the public service, a statutory body, a state-owned enterprise, or the courts, shall work remotely from home, except as may otherwise be directed by the Cabinet Secretary.

8) All gaming establishments would be closed.

9) ABSOLUTELY NO MASS EVENTS.

10) Beaches are to be used ONLY FOR THE PURPOSE OF EXERCISE DURING THIS PERIOD.

11) No street vending for the next 14 days in the first instance. Vending will only be allowed at a public market, with controlled spaces.

12) Strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols must be observed.

13) No in-person dining at restaurants and bars. However, take-outs and deliveries would be permitted.

14) Security officers would be enforcing protocols with respect to social distancing and mask wearing. Persons not in compliance would be penalized.

15) Ferry Service operations would be subject to heightened restrictions to curtail non-essential inter-island travel. The details of all measures would be formalized in the statutory rules and orders.

16) Comply with the non-pharmaceutical protocols and get vaccinated. And

17) Tomorrow (Saturday’s) vaccination sessions will continue at the health centers.
