Premier Mark Brantley attended the investiture ceremony for the award of the Medal of Honour to a distinguished Nevisian Dr Linton Liburd, MBBS FRCS

Truly honored today to attend the investiture ceremony for the award of the Medal of Honour to a distinguished Nevisian Dr Linton Liburd, MBBS FRCS at Government House hosted by Her Honour Hyleeta Liburd our beloved Deputy Governor General.

I applaud Dr Liburd for his long years of distinguished service to the people of Nevis, the wider Federation, the Caribbean region and the world. Many would not know that he performed surgery on members of Bob Marley’s entourage shot in that infamous attack on Bob’s house in 1976. Many would not know that he was part of the team that performed the first heart surgery in the Caribbean.

This is a Nevisian who rose well above the humble circumstances of his birth in 1940 Brown Pasture. May his life be a light to guide every Nevisian boy and girl to dream big to work hard and to achieve.

Congratulations Dr Linton Liburd, MBBS FRCS MH and his entire family.
