Foreign Minister Brantley leads Saint Kitts and Nevis delegation to High Level Meeting in Belgrade

(Belgrade, 11th October 2021) At the invitation of His Excellency Jeyhun Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and His Excellency Nikola Selaković, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Honourable Mark Brantley is leading Saint Kitts and Nevis delegation to the High-Level Meeting to commemorate the 60th Anniversary of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in Belgrade, Serbia.

The two-day event will host delegations from 117 NAM member countries. The Non-Aligned Movement was founded and held its first conference in September 1961 in Belgrade, Serbia. NAM is the second largest grouping of countries after the United Nations. The main goal and objectives of the policy of non-alignment are based on the principles (also known as Bandung Principles) agreed at the Afro-Asian Conference held in Bandung, Indonesia in 1955, which inter alia include the respect for human rights, respect for sovereignty, non-intervention or non-interference into the internal affairs of another country.

This summit will afford participating countries to discuss matters of mutual interests including the importance of multilateralism in promoting international peace and the future of the movement in addressing global challenges.

Foreign Minister Brantley is accompanied by Ms. Ghislaine Williams, Minister Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Saint Kitts and Nevis in New York, Ms. Shanelle Simmonds from the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Washington D.C. and Mr. Orin Roberts, Foreign Service Officer.
