ST. KITTS AND NEVIS DELIVERS POWERFULLY ON ITS NATIONAL DAY AT EXPO 2020 DUBAI

Dubai, UAE, November 16, 2021 (SKNIS): For some, it’s hard to fathom that a country of just about 104 square miles and a little over 50,000 people could deliver so powerfully with talent as it did on its national day on November 16 at EXPO 2020 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). But, St. Kitts and Nevis has become accustomed to punching above its size and weight.

The performance of the masquerades was enthralling and won the hearts of passers-by and attendees alike at the National Day Ceremony at Al Wasl Plaza and earlier in the day at the EXPO Parade. Delly Ranks out of Nevis delivered a powerful rendition of a patriotic medley including “God Bless our Nation” on center stage at the Al Wasl Plaza. While at EXPO 2020, the masqueraders, drummers and fifer, along with Delly Ranks, will have several other opportunities to perform.

The luncheon for National Day was prepared by Dion Williams better known as Chef Gary. It consisted of saltfish and coconut dumplings; sautéed breadfruit; spicy fried plantain and goat water. Some nationals at the luncheon were attired in the traditional wear. Additionally, there was an official dinner hosted by the UAE Government. Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris, along with UAE officials toured the St. Kitts and Nevis and UAE Pavilions.

Prime Minister Harris expressed gratitude to the UAE Government for inviting nationals at its courtesy to be a part of EXPO 2020.

“I am delighted that we can come together in this lovely Al Wasl Plaza to celebrate the National Day of St. Kitts and Nevis. My profound thanks are extended to the Government and people of the United Arab Emirates for their invaluable support in facilitating St. Kitts and Nevis’ participation in EXPO2020,” Prime Minister Harris said.
