NATIONAL CARNIVAL COMMITTEE ENSURING THAT ALL SOCA MONARCH FINALISTS AND PAGEANT CONTESTANTS ARE VACCINATED

Basseterre, St. Kitts, November 24, 2021 (SKNIS): The St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival Committee which is responsible for organising Sugar Mas 50 is ensuring that all soca monarch finalists and pageant contestants will be vaccinated.

This was highlighted by Shannon Hawley, Chair of the National Carnival Committee, during the Sugar Mas 50 Press Conference on November 24, 2021.

She explained that the protection of the contestants and participants was something that the National Carnival took into consideration very early because of the intimacy of the pageant.

Ms. Hawley said, “Every participant who is taking part in the National Carnival is vaccinated. All of our pageant contestants, chaperons, and their entire teams are vaccinated and this was a prerequisite that we put in place early because we started choosing contestants six months ago.”

Sugar Mas 50 will kick off on 3rd December with a series of virtual competitions such as photography, creative arts, and the MUA challenge.

The calendar featuring the core events of Sugar Mas 50 saw the return of shows such as the National Carnival Queen Pageant and the National Carnival Swimwear Pageant, which were not hosted last year due to the pandemic.

The activities for Sugar Mas 50 will be held under the theme “Sugar Mas 50! Fun, Vibe, Energy.”
