Since 1978, the Commonwealth of Dominica and Canada have been sharing a longstanding bilateral relationship. Canada and Dominica’s people are also holding strong ties as they are connected to the similar heritage of Francophonie and the Commonwealth, which further affects the increasing educational and tourism exchanges.

In the field of security, both nations are working hand in hand for enhancing security in the Caribbean. Through Canada’s Anti-Crime Capacity Building Program, they are confronting cybercrime, drug trafficking, money laundering and other crimes in the region.

Dominica continues to benefit from Canada’s support of natural disaster planning and response through the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency.
