UPDATED FEDERAL YOUTH POLICY SUBMITTED FOR REVIEW BEFORE GOING TO CABINET
Basseterre, St. Kitts, December 17, 2021 (SKNIS):The initial review process and drafting of an updated Federal Youth Policy and Strategic Implementation Plan for St. Kitts and Nevis is complete following several rounds of consultation with public and private stakeholders.
The updated draft document proposes various strategies, activities, and actions that will facilitate the development of youth throughout the Federation over the period 2023-2027. Policy Consultant Dwynette Eversley presented the updated policy draft to the Minister of Youth, the Honourable Jonel Powell on Wednesday (December 15, 2021). The pair then sat down for an in-depth discussion on the details contained within the draft policy. They were joined at the meeting by Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Youth, Valencia Syder and Director of the Department of Youth Empowerment, Pierre Liburd.
During Thursday’s Sitting of the National Assembly, Minister Powell highlighted the significance of having the updated policy.
“This new policy will reflect the realities of today and will articulate a clear vision for empowering our youth not only to meet and overcome the challenges of today but to confidently chart and successfully navigate a path to realizing their greatest aspirations,” he stated.
The draft document will be reviewed internally by the department and ministry staff before going to the Federal Cabinet for endorsement. Once approved, the document will then be laid in the Federal Parliament and implemented.
