SKELEC GIVING BACK TO THE CHILDREN OF THE FEDERATION

Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 26, 2021 (SKNIS): The St. Kitts Electricity Company (SKELEC) in its continued efforts to advance, embolden and assist the communities within the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis has given assistance to the St. Christopher’s Children’s Home.

At a handing over ceremony at the home on January 21, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Infrastructure, the Honorable Shawn Richards said, “this is part of SKELEC’s power of giving back and this is indeed a very important initiative being undertaken by SKELEC.”

“SKELEC has been giving back to different communities because SKELEC recognises that it is a partnership that it has here with the people of St. Kitts,” he said.

“It is an important partnership whereby SKELEC powers the homes, businesses and the different communities, but SKELEC is only able to do so because of the persons who are consumers of SKELEC, therefore, giving back to those persons is important and the company has been doing that in different ways,” he said.

The Electricity Company has also donated to the Ministry of Social Development and has assisted with some lighting at the Sandy Point Playing Field.

“As part of energy month, SKELEC had a number of different competitions and those competitions involved students from our secondary and primary schools,” Deputy Prime Minister Richards said.

“We at SKELEC value all of our children and we recognise that these are going to be the future consumers of electricity here in St. Kitts and Nevis and future staff members of the business and it is important for SKELEC to invest into the future,” said Deputy Prime Minister Richards.

The Minister of Public Infrastructure said, “If we invest in our children, we are helping to build our communities.”
