“CONTINUE TO WORK HARD,” MEMBERS OF EXECUTIVE COMMAND TELL NEWLY CONFIRMED, PROMOTED OFFICERS

Basseterre, St. Kitts, May 25, 2022 (RSCNPF): Four Police Officers have been confirmed in their ranks and 11 were promoted to take on new leadership roles in The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force.

Officer Ray Farrell received his letter of confirmation in the rank of Sergeant, while Officers Devon Govia, Abigail Percival-Allen and Moyrah Hazel-Mills were confirmed in the rank of Corporal.

Promoted to the rank of Sergeant were Officers Antonio Browne, Leon Michael, Cleon Michael, Andrea Battice, Kamara Phillip, Shaun Huggins, and Ryan Haywood. Promoted to the rank of Corporal were Wicliffe Morris, Kesha Mills, Calvin Green and Javier Green.

Commissioner of Police Hilroy Brandy handed over the letters during a recent brief ceremony. He congratulated the Officers on their achievement and encouraged them to be disciplined, adding that one of them could become Commissioner one day.

“Policing is always hard work. Hard work always pays off…The juniors will be looking up to you and if you are not disciplined and you are not hard working, they will speak ill of you. I want you to take this opportunity, going forward, to continue to work hard,” Commissioner Brandy said.

Also present was Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Andre Mitchell who joined in congratulating the men and women. He informed them that in order to be successful as supervisors, it was important to know the signs of management in a changing world.

“Times are changing and you have to understand you have to lead, you have to understand the signs of supervision, the signs of managing people, the signs of managing this generation,” ACP Mitchell told the Officers.

Force Personnel Officer, Clifford Govia, also gave his commendations. Not only did he remind them that they were responsible for enforcing the rules of the organisation and for holding their juniors accountable, but that they were also responsible for showing concern about those under their command.

“You have got to be able to convince them, to demonstrate to them, that you are concerned about their welfare, that you are concerned about their lives, that you are concerned about their development,” said Mr. Govia.

Promotions and confirmations are carried out regularly within The Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force as the organisation is one in which opportunities for upward mobility frequently become available.
