SKNFA DIVISION 1 ENTERS CRUNCH TIME

The SKNFA Division 1 is inching closer to the playoffs and the top four is poised to become a tight finish. Conaree Fireball International is still in contention for qualification for a playoff spot after they drubbed Rivers of Living Waters F.C. 6-1 on Thursday at the Kim Collins Stadium. Orlando Ack Mitchum was the star of the show, scoring four goals (7th, 8th, 20th & 58th min), while Germa Browne and Joshua Liburd scored a goal each in the 60th and 84th minutes respectively.

Ricky Tyson of Rivers said this defeat has ended any hopes of Rivers making the Division 1 Playoffs. “With this loss tonight, we are definitely out of the playoffs, Tyson said. “The season was a bit up and down. We had problems with players; we weren’t getting the same players every match,” Tyson said.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday May 31st, Elco Ltd Security Forces F.C. delivered a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Newton Ground F.C.  A hattrick from Donyelle Francis in the second half in addition to goals from Justin Soleyn, Dennis Phillip and Omari Pigggot ensured Security Forces sealed the very big win. Shanardy Charles of Newton Ground was sent off after receiving two yellow cards in the 33rd and 34th minute. Assistant Coach of Security Forces George Gilbert said his team has been getting good results of late because they have been following the philosophy of the coaching staff. This he believes will make them a force to reckon with if they are promoted to the Premier League. “The team is definitely understanding what we want them to do. They haven’t reached there as yet; its coming,” he said. “But I am telling you, when they understand their role specifically, they are going to be a threat, not just in the first division but also (the Premier League),” he added.
