DEPUTY PM CALLS ON SCHOOL PRINCIPALS TO SUPPORT EFFORTS TO ADVANCE EDUCATION AS STATED IN PROMISES


(EMU) – St. Kitts, August 25, 2022:
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education Hon
Dr. Geoffrey Hanley assured Principals at the first meeting held in preparation for the upcoming
the school year that he was anticipating their full cooperation in helping to deliver on promises that
he fully intends to keep.

The new Minister, commenting on the advancement of the Education sector by means of
strengthening and empowering its human resource base and physical infrastructure, noted the
areas in which he was hoping to place priority.

These included among other things: the new Double Deputy System which would increase
Deputy Heads at schools to two (2) in number; technological upgrades; a brand new Joshua
Obadiah Williams School; Renovations to the bathrooms in schools; A new Basseterre High
School; Upgrade to the School Meals Programme as well as increases in stipends and
responsibility allowances.


Also addressing principals at the meeting were Chief Education Officer Francil Morris and
Deputy CEO Lisa Pistana.


New principals for the school year were announced including Jamillia Bristol Browne, Mr
Ulukia Bryan and Mr. Javan Canonier.


Permanent Secretary William Hodge was also in attendance and encouraged principals to set
high standards in his usually passionate manner.
