Buckie Got It St. Kitts and Nevis News Source
Earlier this morning, my maternal grandmother, Janette ‘Mama’ Claxton peacefully transitioned to her Eternal Home to be with her maker whom she loved and praised religiously. She was 85 years old.
Originally from Anguilla, she moved to Nevis many moons ago with her beloved husband of blessed memory Mr. Hugh ‘Ashin’ Claxton (I called him Granddaddy).
As a little boy, my sister and I spent many a summer in Ramsbury, Nevis by Mama and Granddaddy. I particularly loved when Mama would make her amazing Peppermint Candy which I was fortunate to have had her teach me how to do it (obviously not as good as her) so that today I can make it for my daughters.
Mama spent a few weeks in St. Kitts by my parents between July and August and I am grateful that I got to share even the little quick moments with her during my very busy period of time.
Please keep my mother Verlyn, and Mama’s other children Frankie, Elva, Deborah, and Rohan and our entire family in your prayers at this time.
Mama, Rest in Eternal Peace… We love you!
