Cost for La Guerite Lands to be waived for long time residents!

During the campaign, I made a commitment that as Parliamentary Representative for Constituency #3, I would lobby the Government to transfer the lands at North La Guerite to the long time residents at no cost since they would have lived on the lands for many decades.

Today, into this evening, it was my pleasure to go house to house in La Guerite to report to the residents that after writing officially to the responsible Ministry, the Government has approved my request to have the lands transfered to the qualifying long time residents at no cost for the lands that they have lived on, and farmed for generations. Only mininal legal fees may apply.

In the weeks to come, the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Attorney General’s office will collaborate to start the process of the issuance of Crown Grants so that qualified residents can have the Certificate of Titles registered in their names. Residents will receive official communication from the Ministry of Sustainable in due course outlining all of the next steps.

Congratulations to the Residents of La Guerite and many thanks to the Ministry of Sustainable Development and the Attorney General’s office, in particular Hon Dr Joyelle Clarke and Attorney-General Garth Wilkin for making this a reality.
