Yesterday (Saturday 4th February, 2023), 15 years old, Tyhra Charles, a form 4 student of the Verchilds High School, ran a blistering 200m in a time of 24.33 seconds.
This personal best (PB) has catapulted Tyhra into a realm where she will now be competing with athletes regionally and internationally in this year’s CARIFTA Games and NACAC Championship. Noteworthy is the fact that Tyhra not only hit the mark for the Under 17 category in which she will compete but also that of the Under 20 for CARIFTA and Under 23 for NACAC.
The Verchilds High School family is ecstatic and looks forward to more accomplishments from its students in the arena of athletics, education and other areas of human development.
Words of commendations are extended to her coach and guardian, Jenice Daley who continues to work assiduously to ensure that the young lady understands the value of discipline.
