The Feral Control Unit at the Department of Agriculture St. Kitts, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources and Cooperatives will be constructing more than 500 traps over the next few weeks to help deter threats caused by monkeys on the island.

This is one of several measures to be implemented by the government to help food producers combat issues caused by monkeys and other animals such as wild pigs that wreak havoc on crops and pose a threat to food security in the twin island federation.

The Ministry is also gearing up to host a “Monkey Control” symposium to further address the growing concerns of farmers, the public and other stakeholders affected by the growing monkey population.
