Coach Steven Brown of Spurs, said the win was a good one, considering the challenges they
endured with match conditions. “We executed well enough. There were some challenges that we
faced coming out here; the size of the field was a bit smaller so we couldn’t execute our
gameplan to the fullest, but nonetheless, the guys adjusted enough. We were able to capitalize on
our chances and scored a few goals. We got the three points, which is what we came here for,”
Brown said.
A member of the Sandy Point technical team, Elzito Warner said the players were probably a bit
nervous playing in their first match of the season at home. “Honestly, I would say we played at
least a six out of a ten (rating). There are a few things we did poorly; I guess it’s nerves from our
first game,” Warner said. “But I know we can do better—we saw it at the end of the game where
we started pressing high and we started to get into the opponent and we actually got our goal. So,
I think if we start in games earlier and pressing higher, we could do much better,” Warner added.
The upcoming Premier League fixtures this weekend will be played in Cayon, Newtown and
Warner Park.
