Trinidadian dancehall artiste, Prince Swanny, has been formally charged in his home country after he was not allowed to enter Dominica and was flown back to Trinidad.

He is now facing the charge of breaching an order from the High Court, according to media reports from the twin island Republic.

The artiste, whose real name is Taryll Swan, was arrested on Friday, April 7, 2023, by Western Division Gang Unit, allegedly in relation to gang inquiries and gang-related activity.

It’s also alleged that a Corporal Durity–of the T&T Police–obtained an order from the High Court, in which the artiste was to provide his passwords for his electronic device and social media apps.

However, he refused to comply, hence the charge.

He has been placed on TT$80,000 bail.

Prince Swanny created a stir on Friday, April 7, when he arrived in Dominica for a concert on Easter Sunday night at the stadium forecourt but was not allowed to disembark.

He was flown back to Trinidad where he was arrested on arrival. Organizers of the event had hoped he would instead make it for the concert on Easter Monday night, but all hopes were dashed when it was revealed that the artiste would be charged in court.

The concert, dubbed “Dream” Easter Bash, went on without him on Easter Sunday night.
