The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, through the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Marine Resources, and Cooperatives, is moving forward with the development of the poultry sector in the Federation, as part of its overall goal to meet the CARICOM 25% by 2025 target and significantly reduce the food import bill.

This was confirmed at an official ceremony, held at the St. Kitts Marriot Resort on Friday, where agricultural stakeholders witnessed the joint signing of the St. Kitts and Nevis Layer Chicken Industry Sustainable Development Project agreement between Minister of Agriculture et al., the Honourable Samal Duggins and Resident Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) His Excellency Michael Lin.

Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture on St. Kitts, Mr. Miguel Flemming, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture on Nevis, Mr. Huey Sargeant, Directors in the Departments of Agriculture and Marine Resources, as well as technical staff and poultry farmers were also present.
