Youth Entrepreneurial Advancement Scheme 2023

Basseterre, St. Kitts, August 3, 2023 (Department of Small Business Development Centre):  Brandy-Williams Limited is a dual-purpose company that specializes in Youth and Social Work.  The Social Enterprise arm focuses on youth advancement and development through bespoke and innovative programmes that focus on life skills, education, social interactions, sports, and entrepreneurship.  The consultancy arm of the company provides independent and contract social work services to families, local authorities, and private entities.  Our team is comprised of youth workers, social workers, physiotherapists, social work assistants, teachers, key workers, and business mentors.  We aim to provide a wrap-around service for young people and their families.

We are delighted to report that the Youth Entrepreneurial Advancement Scheme 2023, facilitated by our team, and co-sponsored by the Department of Youth Empowerment and the Ministry of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, via its business support arm the Small Business Development Center St. Kitts, was a tremendous success!  Out of 44 initial applicants, 23 attended the 5-day workshops from 17.07.2023 to 21.07.2023, and 13 submitted their business plans and pitched for the EC$10,000.00 funding for the advancement and development of their small business.  The pitch presentations were held on 02.08.2023 at the Ministry of Small Business & Entrepreneurship and the participants impressed everyone present – from the staff at the hosting Ministry to the members on the judging panel.  It was rewarding to see the participants use what they learned and gathered from the workshops to build their business plans and put together their presentations.  The quality of work was of a high standard.

The panel members consisted of Mr. D. Aleski Brandy-Williams of Brandy-Williams Limited, Mrs. Sahira Joseph, Director of the Department of Youth Empowerment, Mr. Philip Browne, Director of Entrepreneurship within the Ministry of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, and Dr. Yannik Henry, Paediatrician, and owner of Pitter Patter Paediatric Care.  It was a tough decision selecting the winner and it all came down to just 3 points separating the top two business plans and pitches. The winner will be announced on 04.08.2023 during a special ceremony to be held at the Ministry of Small Business & Entrepreneurship and will receive the full EC$10,000.00, website development, web hosting for 12 months, business cards, business mentorship, and other promotional materials for their business.

We would like to take this time to encourage all small business owners to register with the Ministry of Small Business & Entrepreneurship to be kept informed and updated on all future initiatives and training programmes and be the first to know about the Youth Entrepreneurial Advancement Scheme 2024!  Who knows, the next winner might just be YOU!
