BASSETERRE (14th August, 2023):ย The celebrations commemorating the 50th and 45th anniversary of the triumphant journey of the 1973 and 1978 St. Kitts Netball Team have taken off with much zeal and enthusiasm.
The festivities began yesterday (Sunday August 13, 2023) with a church service at the Antioch Baptist Church, setting the tone for a week of exciting events. The touching service resonated with the spirit of unity, dedication and accomplishment that has defined our netball legends’ legacy. The presence of the netballers along with fervent supporters, filled the church with an atmosphere of shared triumph and appreciation for their achievements.
As the momentous week continues, today the champion teams visited various media outlets to share their cherished memories that have shaped the legacy of Netball in the Federation.
The highly anticipated launch of the Primary School Netball Championship is scheduled for Tuesday August 15. The initiative is a testament to their commitment to nurturing young talent and cultivating a passion for netball from an early age. The tournament will ignite the spirit of friendly competition, sportsmanship and teamwork among our future netball stars.
On Wednesday, the netball legends will visit netball stalwarts who contributed immensely to their success in 1973 and 1978, as part of their Community Give Back Day.
Thursday promises to be a very vibrant Fun Day at the Pam Tyson Netball Complex on Thursday at 5PM, where families, supporters and netball enthusiasts can enjoy a variety of games, entertainment, well stocked bars, photo opportunities with the legends, a 5on5 tournament and a netball shooting competition.
Friday’s highlight is the symbolic Nostalgic Walk from the Pam Tyson Netball Complex to Port Zante, retracing the footsteps of netball teams from the 1970s who embarked on this journey after each exhilarating game. The celebrations culminate on Saturday with a Grand Gala. The glamorous evening will be a fitting conclusion to the jubilee and sapphire celebrations.
