MINISTRY OF EDUCATION ADDRESSING DELAY IN SCHOOL MEALS DELIVERY
Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 04, 2023 (SKNIS): The Ministry of Education offers its heartfelt apologies for the delay in delivering school meals on Monday, September 04, 2023, and is actively engaged in resolving this matter. The delay was primarily attributed to ongoing cosmetic enhancements taking place at the facility.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, the Honourable Dr. Geoffrey Hanley, has assured that the issue will be promptly resolved.
“In the upcoming days, the ministry will make the necessary adjustments to ensure timely lunch deliveries,” said Minister Hanley. “We deeply care about the well-being of our students, and we remain committed to aiding those in need and express our gratitude to those affected for their patience.”
The St. Kitts School Food Feeding Programme was established with the aim of offering high-quality balanced meals that promote healthy bodies and minds among the nation’s students. The School Meals initiative, launched in 1982 by the Government of St. Kitts and Nevis, provides meals for all primary school students and those in high school who require assistance.
This programme has been extended to include some private schools.
The nutritious meals are prepared at the School Meals Center, centrally located at Needsmust Estate, and distributed to all participating schools daily via our efficient school meals buses.
