ANTICIPATION BUILDS FOR SUNDAY’S NATIONAL SERVICE OF GRATITUDE AND GOSPEL CONCERT

Basseterre, St. Kitts, September 14, 2023 (SKNIS): Anticipation is building for Sunday’s (September 17, 2023) National Service of Gratitude and Gospel Concert when individuals across St. Kitts and Nevis will pause to thank God for His grace and mercy over the past 40 years of nationhood.

The service will be held at the Conaree Playing Field starting at 4 p.m. It will feature the Sugar Hill String Band, Blessed Ogbum. Shekinah Dance Ministry, the National Choir and more. Pastor Renecia Huggins of the St. Paul’s Wesleyan Holiness Church will deliver the word.

The concert immediately follows the service. Venelle Powell, Blestina, Paige Gumbs and the Roots Band are among the local acts scheduled to take the stage. Additional artistes will be released shortly.

The addition of the gospel concert after the service brings a new element that helps to expand the thanksgiving experience to a wider cross-section of persons.

“It brings a fresh perspective and ensures inclusivity in this commemorative event,” said Viera Galloway, Co-Chair of the Independence 40 Planning Committee. She added that the infusion of the traditional with the contemporary means that there is something for everyone.

Christel Joseph, Public Relations Officer for the Independence 40 Planning Committee, said she is excited by the events planned for Sunday.

“I’m really excited. Just hearing the line-up, I know there is a lot to expect. It’s going to be praise upon praise, worship upon worship for 40 years of success,” she stated.

Ms. Joseph strongly encouraged the public to come out and give God thanks for His blessings as the twin-island Federation celebrates its 40th anniversary of Independence.
